Indonesia earthquake tsunami alert

Two massive earthquakes have hit the coast of Indonesia’s Aceh province causing wide spread devastation. The first earthquake was of a magnitude of 8.6 with a second one following of 8.3, this has triggered a tsunami warning for the Indian ocean. I seriously hope a tsunami does not follow although it is likely, with the scale of the earthquakes that took place a tsunami would cause further devastation to the coast which I feel the province of Aceh would not be able to deal with at all. It is a tragic event that has occurred and my thoughts go out to the people suffering it. The region is regularly hit by earthquakes, the Indian ocean tsunami of 2004 killed 170,000 people in Aceh alone and some 250,000 people around the region. The pacific tsunami warning centre (PTWC) have advised national authorities across the Indian ocean to take appropriate action. Also it has been said that the safeguards put in place from previous times this has occurred such as early warning systems have helped alot, which I am very glad to hear as if this occurs frequently in this area of the world people should prepare for action to be taken almost immediately. I believe more safeguards should be put in place and more sea defences built to be honest, to save as many human lives as it took in 2004 would defiantly be worth the time and effort and the appropriate governments should defiantly look into this as soon as possible I believe. The first initial quake was recorded as 8.9 magnitude but was later revised down to an 8.6. This is an extremely large earthquake even for this region which has them frequently therefore causing an equally large tsunami if the warnings are correct. I will keep you up to date on this sad news happening in Indonesia, peace out people see ya soon!
